POH put together the tools you need to learn the Bass Method of personal oral hygiene and keep your teeth healthy in one package
The Bass Method is the name given to the specific actions to properly clean teeth. Dr. Bass' kind of toothbrush, floss and a disclosing tablet are all the tools you need to perform his method of cleaning teeth. Did you know Dr. Bass was a medical doctor, not a dentist? Dr. Bass developed this method after many years of clinical study and experimentation in his laboratory in New Orleans. Read more here CLiCK
This POH hygiene kit contains one spool Percept® LiteWax™ 630 black floss and one spool of Classic NoWax™ 490 floss to use with the Bass Method of personal oral hygiene. Finding the best floss for you is half the battle. Included are the full instructions on why and how you should clean your teeth. Advice given by thousands upon thousands of Preventive Dentists's for 55 years.
Flossing prevents gum disease, which takes the whole tooth. Brushing prevents cavities, which takes a tooth bit by bit. If you only do one or the other, floss. Think about it.
In this kit there are two #7 toothbrushes similar to the original Bass bristle tuft layout. The Bass type toothbrush has a delicate handle, unlike the commercial offerings of todays style.
In fact, Dr. Bass' toothbrush is just the right size for easy, purposeful manipulation.
To Dr. Bass, the most important part of a toothbrush (this the others guys forget about) are the bristles, and of course, the very tips of the bristles. Soft, end rounded nylon filaments are what makes the Bass type of toothbrush different. Unpolished, sharp and hard bristles damage gums. If the tips of the bristles are not end-rounded and polished carefully, the bristle tips are left with sharp edges, saw teeth and fishhooks which can and will cut into your gums.
How one holds this toothbrush is different, too. Hold a Bass brush with your fingertips, not with your fist, for precise control of where the bristle tips are going. Aim the tips of the bristles up against the teeth and gums without a lot of pressure. If you push too hard, the bristles bend too much and effectiveness is lost.
HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU ARE DOING A GOOD JOB CLEANING?
To help you learn where you miss when you clean your teeth, ten disclosing tablets are in this kit. These dye bacterial plaque bright red. These tablets are used by Preventive Dentists and have been for over sixty years to show their patients where to clean. Made from Red Dye #28, the tablet colors the colonies of bacteria bright red. This makes the plaque visible. If used before cleaning the teeth, one can see where to brush and floss. If used after, one can see places you missed.
